Description: Collagen is a protein chain which self-assebles into a unique triple helix. Collagen makes up one quarter of all proteins in the human body. The collagen fibres self-assebmle into large fibre-like structures. Collagen provides stretching and tearing resistance in bones and ligaments, occurs in the lens of the eye (where it is in crystalline form with optical transparency) - in total, collagen occurs in 20 different types in various parts of the body.
